Rebekah Topham Rebekah Topham (2006-11), Griswold (Iowa) High School freshman, was named the 2011-12 Gatorade Iowa Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.  Congratulations, Rebekah! (1/12/2012)

Heather Bates Heather Bates (2004-05), Discovery Canyon (Colorado) junior, won the Young Women's 5000-meter race at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Saturday, December 10. (12/11/2011)

Ashley Schnell Ashley Schnell (2002-07), University of North Carolina-Greensboro senior, was named the Southern Conference Runner of the Month for October. (11/3/2011)

Rebekah Topham Rebekah Topham (2006-11), Griswold (Iowa) High School freshman, won the Class 1A girls' individual title at the Iowa state cross country meet on Saturday, October 29 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.  Her time of 13:59 was tops among the meet's four classes, a Class 1-A state-meet record, and the 4th-best in girls' state-meet history.  Radio station KSOM named Rebekah their Athlete of the Week. Shae Spady (2008-11), Millard West High freshman, finished third in the Class A state race in Kearney on Friday, October 21, helping the Wildcats win their first state title in girls cross country.  Other Flyer participants include:

Monte Larsen Monte Larsen (2007), Morningside College senior, has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance at the Briar Cliff Invitational on Saturday, October 8th. (10/13/2011)

Ashley Schnell Ashley Schnell (2002-07), University of North Carolina-Greensboro senior, was the top individual for the Spartans at the Elon Invitational in Elon, North Carolina on Saturday, September 17. (9/17/2011)

Katelyn Gochenour (2007-11) won the Youth Girls javelin throw at the USATF Region 8 Junior Olympic Championships at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota on Sunday, July 10. (7/1/2011)

Andy Vasquez (2008-11), Buffett Middle School 8th-grader, won the Youth Boys 3000 meter race walk at the USATF National Youth Outdoor Championships on Tuesday, June 28. (7/1/2011)

Alexandria Gochenour Alexandria Gochenour (2003-11), Logan-Magnolia High School senior, won the 100 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles, and 200 meter dash at the Iowa state track meet on Saturday, May 20, leading the Panthers to the Class 2-A team title. (5/21/2011)

Clara Nichols Clara Nichols (2006-11), Millard South High School junior, won the 400 meter dash at the Nebraska state meet on Saturday, May 21, breaking the record of Angee Henry (1992-94).  Clara won two other gold medals by winning the 200 meter dash and anchoring the Patriots 4x400 meter relay. Natalie Willer (2005-08), University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior, won the pole vault at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Norman, Oklahoma on Sunday, May 15.  Samantha Musil (2003-06), University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior, added a third-place finish in the hammer throw. (5/15/2011)

Cody Snyder Cody Snyder (2005-09), University of South Dakota freshman, won the shot put at the Great West Conference Outdoor Championship in Orem, Utah on Friday, May 13. (5/13/2011)

Monte Larsen Monte Larsen (2007), Morningside College junior, received the Top Male Performance Award from the Great Plains Athletic Conference championships on Saturday, May 7, winning the 800 meter run in meet- and school-record time. (5/11/2011)

Jillian Ourada (2006-08), Doane College sophomore, was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year after scoring 27¼ points to help the Tigers to a runner-up finish at the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa on Saturday, May 7.  Allison Hartnett (2000-03), Doane College junior, helped two Tiger relays to 4th-place finishes. Clara Nichols (2006-11), Millard South High School junior, won the girls high school 400 meter dash at the Kansas Relays on Friday, April 22.  Her time of 55.71 puts her sixth on the Nebraska all-time charts. (4/23/2011)

Natalie Willer (2005-08), University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior, was named the 2011 Nebraska Female Student-Athlete of the Year on Sunday, April 17 in Lincoln. (4/18/2011)

Rachel Wade Rachel Wade (1997-2000), of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2006, 3½ years after being struck by lightning while lifeguarding.  The Flyers express our deepest condolences to the Wade family.  An obituary appeared in the Muscatine (Iowa) Journal.
